When the weather finally gets warmer and Together Festival is finally upon us, one show in particular will stand out from the rest in terms of a chiller vibe. This show is going to be Sinkane – comprised of singer/instrumentalist Ahmed Gallab, guitarist Mikey Freedom Heart, bass player Ish Montgomery and drummer Jason Trammell.
Ahmed, who lived in Sudan, has a popular musical history- he played drums for Of Montreal and Caribou, and then keyboard for Yeasayer. Sinkane sounds entirely different from those three bands however, using drums, funky beats and a plethora of instruments and sounds that are less harsh yet still unexpected and diverse. The description of their sound on Sinkane’s facebook page is “Say reboot, refresh, restart Fresh page, new day, o.g.’s, new key…” Sinkane’s last album Mars also has a jazz sound, adding to the loose, relaxed effect of their songs.

The violent red, black and white images over the song give a fresh political perspective that might not be noticed with just the audio.
Be sure to your official festival pass to experience Sinkane as well as the other unparalleled talent, gracing the festival’s stacked lineup.
