Red Bull Music Academy Returns for 15th Year

2012 is already shaping up to be an exciting year in the musical realm. There’s a palpable energy coursing through society’s creativity life-line, producing a need for artistically stimulating experiences. For the past fourteen years, the Red Bull Music Academy has been there to answer the calls of the music world with its unique sacred territory designed to inspire, cultivate and synthesize ideas.

Getting its start in Berlin, a city known to attract and welcome the avant-garde, the RBMA quickly established itself as prestigious and highly coveted by the revolutionary music-minds. It’s centered around a customized double-termed, five-week long curriculum of studio tutoring with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, integrative city-wide exploration and workshops as well as the opportunity for intimate conversation with music industry authorities. Past year professionals have included: Benga, Flying Lotus, Modeselektor, Carl Craig and Prins Thomas.

Every year following its advent, the RBMA has gone on tour, so to speak, setting up in various cities world-wide including London, Capetown, Madrid, Dublin and Melbourne. This year the 2012 Red Bull Academy has announced that from September 30th-November 2nd they will be setting up shop in New York City; meaning that for five weeks NYC will be infiltrated (even more so than usual) with unimaginable genius and energy. If you are an innovative and forward-thinking artist, whether it be singer, composer, instrumentalist, DJ, producer or beyond, you are invited to submit your application. The beautiful thing about the RBMA is their selection of sixty participants based solely off of raw talent and visionary creativity without the need to fill quotas or limit the scope to one musical genre. You have until Monday April 2nd which is the first day of the Together Festival to submit your application.

This year, the Together Festival is excited to announce its partnership with the RBMA. Stay tuned for further details and for more information on the RBMA and application process, be sure to visit their site.

"The sixth edition of Together ... was a reminder of how much Boston still has to offer for the tribes of dance music fans who live here ... Despite its size, Together pulled off an impressive range of sounds from across the electronic spectrum."
